Using RDU to import and update the reference data

Use the Reference Data Utility (RDU) to load reference data from a SWIFT BICDirectory/BIC Directory 2018 or BankDirectoryPlus directory to the FTM SWIFT database.

Notes:
  1. Only one RDU process can run at a time.
  2. It is recommended that you do not start RDU with a FULL update file during normal system hours:
    • A large number of records (perhaps as many as several hundred thousand) might be inserted into the tables, which would have an adverse effect on overall system performance.
    • When a FULL bank file is imported, records that are not write protected are deleted and then recreated. Consequently, there is a period during which reference data is unavailable. This adversely affects message validation, the population of drop-down menus in the MER Facility, the providing of BIC address information to the MER Facility, RMA and the printing service, and the identification of stale authorisations in RMA.
  3. The Reference Data component of the Administration and Operations (AO) Facility can be used to display and modify reference data, after it has been imported to the FTM SWIFT database. For more information, see Managing reference data.
