Purging the data
Common Services can be configured to periodically purge data from the file system and the database. You can use these purge capabilities to help you avoid retaining personally identifiable information (PII) or sensitive personal information (SPI) data for longer than is necessary.
Several methods to purge data are available. The following list shows some ways that you can purge the
different kinds of data.
- Processed data
- When financial transaction data is processed, it is associated with a business day. Therefore, business days can be used to manage the retention of your financial transaction data. Common Services can be configured to automate the purging of this processed data based on the business day. For more information, see Automating the business day purge process. The processed data is stored in the database and also on the file system.
- Audit and system log data
- Audit and system log information is stored in the database. Periodic purging of the audit and log data can
be done by using Services Framework tasks. For more information about these tasks, see the sections
in the following list:
- Application log purge task
- Audit purge task
- Configuration data
- Configuration data needs to be managed manually by using the Control Center.
