Filtering

There are multiple filtering options available for logs. Multiple entries, single entries, or no entries may be selected. To remove a selection, hold down <Ctrl> and click the value to deselect.

Filter by Criteria - Components

This filter box lists all the registered components. Components are registered only when they start up and only those registered components are displayed.

Filter by Criteria - Component Type

Name Description
Engine Runtime modules running inside the WebSphere® Application Server. Examples are:
  • Image Compliance
  • Payment Repair
  • AutoAdjust
Server Runtime modules running outside of the WebSphere Application Server. Examples are:
  • Gateway
  • Business Rules
  • Transaction Server
User Interface Web based interface used to manage applications. An example is Control Center.
User Interface (EJB) Responsible for accessing the repositories on behalf of the web based user interface. An example is Transaction Server.
Manager Runtime modules that support the Server components. An example is Business Rules Manager.
Task Tasks that are run by Services Framework.
Adapter Components that are built as resource adapters and run in WebSphere. An example is Image Compliance.
Unknown Used for existing applications that were migrated to the new structure
External Used by external applications not associated with Common Services

Filter by Criteria - Levels

Name Description
Severe Indicates a serious failure preventing normal program execution and requiring immediate attention. These messages should be created to alert end users. The last letter in the message ID is an S.
Warning Indicates a potential problem that may require further investigation. These messages should be created to alert end users or system managers. Typically, the system recovers and continues to function correctly. The last letter in the message ID is a W.
Informational Indicates a message that is typically written directly to the user interface. These messages should be created to make them as user friendly as possible for end users and administrators. The last letter in the message ID is an I.
Tracking Message Indicates a message that is used for tracking work as it is processed by the Common Services components. Typically, tracking messages that are created by the components have a unit of work value that is associated with the logged message. The last letter in the message ID is a K.

Filter by Criteria - Text Field Filtering

The following text fields may be used for filtering:
  • Message ID
  • Message
  • Unit of Work Type
  • Unit of Work
Note: If no text is entered in these fields, they will not be used in filtering.

These fields are not case sensitive. The percent sign (%) denotes a wildcard in the text and may be used multiple times in the same field. For example, if IZG% is entered in the Message ID field, then all the messages starting with IZG are displayed.

Filter by Criteria - Time

Start Date Start date for log filter
Start Time Start time for log filter
End Date End date for log filter
End Time End time for log filter

Filter by ID

You can filter by the IDs that are shown in the following list.
Reference ID
This ID is the unique identifier for a log record. Upon entering a valid Reference ID, clicking Go clears the data that is entered in the Filter by Criteria section.
