Groups and permissions

Users must be given access to the user interface and its functions. Users are given authorization through the Control Center. The following list describes the different components that are used to control user access in FTM.
Authorization
Authorization for the user interface uses an internal registry that includes the different components. Users are given membership in groups and permissions are assigned to groups. Users inherit the permissions of all the groups of which they are a member.
Groups
Groups contain users and are granted permissions. When components are added to the Control Center, they define their own component-specific groups.
Permissions
Permissions are created during the installation of the components. Permissions are closely tied to the pages within the user interface. Each page is associated with one or more permissions to provide access to functions on that page.

For more information about managing users and user access, see Users page and Groups page.
