TIFF correction

Image Compliance provides an option to correct any incoming TIFF images that do not meet the ANSI X9.100-181-2007 standard. When correction is enabled, incoming Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) images are checked against the standard. If the image does not meet the standard, Image Compliance attempts to correct it. The corrected TIFF image is used in the outbound transmission, even if the new image still does not comply with the standard.

When a TIFF image is corrected by Image Compliance, the image is updated with the following additional information:
  • A list of the corrections that were made to the image is placed in its TIFF image description tag (TIFF tag 270). For more information about the list of corrections, see TIFF correction rule operations.
  • A comment indicating that the image was corrected is placed in its DocumentName tag (TIFF tag 269). An example of the comment text is: Corrected by FTM TIFFCorrector.

Configuring image validation rules for TIFF correction

TIFF correction is performed by image validation rule sets and rules that are created by the user. Create a new, or select an existing, image validation rule set to contain the image validation rules needed for TIFF correction. Display the rules list for the rule set and then add a new image validation TIFF correction rule for each of the correction operations to be performed. Each image validation TIFF correction rule can be enabled or disabled, which allows a specific TIFF correction operation to be temporarily disabled in the rule set without needing to delete the rule itself.

Refer to the following sections for more information about creating the image validation rule sets and rules that support TIFF correction.
