Death Notification (DNE) Transaction Processing

DNE transactions are typically used by government agencies to notify a depository financial institution that the recipient of a government benefit payment has died. A DNE transaction provides the following information so that the normal processing of the specific payment can be stopped:

• date of death
• Social Security number of the decedent
• amount of the transaction
