Actions

Certain actions can be applied to more than one record. The actions menu is displayed after you select a transmission.

Each transmission record that is displayed on the page contains a selection box for selecting that record. After you select the records by using the selection boxes, click Selection Menu to see the actions that are available to run. Choose the action to run from the menu. When the action is applied, every record that is selected does that action.

The actions that are available on the page are shown in the following table.
Table 1. Outbound transmissions page actions
Action Location Group authorization Description
Create notification Action menu Customer determined The create notification action requests that notifications be sent for the selected transmissions. For the request to be processed, each requested transmission must be in the transmitted status. If the transmission is in any other status, the request is rejected by Distribution.
Build and release Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
The build and release action starts building the transmission. After the transmission is built successfully, it is placed into the release location to be sent.
A transmission must be in one of the following statuses:
  • Open
  • Closed
  • Build error
  • Queue error
A replica transmission must be in one of the following statuses:
  • Build error
  • Queue error

Replica transmissions are built and released automatically after the original transmission was built and released.

For stacked transmissions, this action applies to only the parent transmission.

Rebuild and release Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
The rebuild and release action completely rebuilds the transmission. After the transmission is built successfully, the transmission is placed into the release location for processing by the Gateway or an alternative customer application.
A transmission must be in one of the following statuses:
  • Open
  • Built
  • Closed
  • Released
  • Build error
  • Queue error
  • Release error
A replica transmission must be in one of the following statuses:
  • Build error
  • Queue error
  • Release error

For stacked transmissions, this action applies only to the parent transmission.

Release Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
The release action places the currently built transmission back into the release location for processing by the Gateway or an alternative customer application. This action does not manipulate the contents of the transmission in any way.
A transmission must be in one of the following statuses:
  • Built
  • Released
  • Release error

For stacked transmissions, this action applies only to the parent transmission.

Remake and Release Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
The remake release action displays the remake release transmission page for the selected transmission. On the remake release transmission page, you can select which batches (ICLs) are included when the outbound transmission is remade and released.

For stacked transmissions, this action applies only to the child transmissions.

Remake and Release is only valid for NACHA transmissions.

Reverse Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
The reverse action displays the reverse transmission page for the selected transmission. You can use the reverse transmission page to select which batches (ICLs) are included when the outbound transmission is reversed.

For stacked transmissions, this action applies only to the child transmissions.

Reverse is only valid for NACHA transmissions.

Mark deadline met Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
The mark deadline met action updates the status of a particular transmission as meeting its deadline. This action overrides any previous deadline status.

For stacked transmissions, this action applies only to the parent transmission.

Mark deadline missed Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
The mark deadline missed action updates the status of a particular transmission as missing its deadline. This action overrides any previous deadline status.

For stacked transmissions, this action applies only to the parent transmission.

Reschedule tasks Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
The reschedule tasks action verifies and reschedules the automation process for a transmission with the WebSphere® scheduler (if applicable). This action is typically used when a transmission is created by the Distribution engine but the WebSphere scheduler is not available to register this transmission for automation.
The following requirements for a transmission must be met before the automation process can be rescheduled.
  • The transmission must be in an open status.
  • The transmission must have a cutoff and a deadline that is assigned to it.
  • The cutoff and deadline must not be in the past.
Notes:
  • This action is not allowed on replica transmissions.
  • For stacked transmissions, this action applies only to the parent transmission.
Reset status to open Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
The reset to open action manually overrides the status of a transmission and resets it to open.
Note: Do not use this action unless you are absolutely sure that resetting the status back to open does not corrupt the integrity of the transmission.
Some typical uses of resetting a transmission back to the open status are shown in the following list:
  1. WebSphere rebooted during processing and the transmissions are in a status that cannot be restarted.
  2. Messages on queues (for building) were deleted and the transmissions are in a status that cannot be restarted.
A transmission must be in one of the following statuses:
  • Locked
  • Building
  • Built
  • Queued
  • Releasing
  • Closed
  • Building error
  • Release error
Notes:
  • This action is not allowed on replica transmissions.
  • For stacked transmissions, this action applies only to the parent transmission.
Set status to transmitted Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
The set status to transmitted action manually overrides the status of a transmission and sets it to transmitted.
Note: Do not use this action unless you are absolutely sure that setting the status to transmitted does not corrupt the integrity of the transmission.
Some typical uses of setting a transmission to the transmitted status are shown in the following list:
  1. IBM® MQ messages that update the status to transmitting or transmitted were deleted and the transmissions are in a status that cannot be completed without generating a duplicate transmission.
  2. Recovering from file system errors that caused a problem when the transmission was copied to its landing zone.
The status of a transmission cannot be set to transmitted if its status is one of the following statuses:
  • Unmapped
  • Holdover deleted

For stacked transmissions, this action applies only to the parent transmission.

Add Comment Action menu
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
Displays a field that an operator can use to input a comment for the transmission. Operator comments are saved in the audit log.
View details Button
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
Distribution Users
Shows more detailed information for a particular transmission.
Remap endpoints Button
Distribution Administrators
Distribution Supervisors
Remaps the endpoints that are associated with this transmission. For more information about endpoint remapping for outbound transmissions, see Outbound Transmission Remapping.

For stacked transmissions, this action applies only to the child transmissions.

Asynchronous Actions

When you select the build and release action for multiple records, the action submits the selected records to a messaging queue to be processed. The action is considered successful when the selected transmissions are placed on the messaging queue. To track the status of the selected transmissions after they are submitted, refresh the page for the current building status.
