TIFF Validation

The TIFF Validation performed by the Image Compliance service verifies that the Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) data complies with a set of rules. The rules are configured through the user interface or are specified in a configurable rules file described in Rules File. TIFF Validation interprets these rules, assuming data should conform to the TIFF 6.0 specification. IBM® supplies two rules files that test the restrictions specified in American National Standard X9.100-181-2007; one with allowed variances and one without variances.

TIFF data contains images and their associated attributes. TIFF Validation rules specify restrictions for what TIFF data is valid for an application. TIFF Validation enforces the various restrictions through tests specified in a rules file. TIFF Validation applies the tests to the first image (page) in the TIFF data, by examining the data’s image file header and first image file directory.
