Search term
The Search Term field is where the user provides the data value that is used to search for the rows they want to view. Except for table columns that have a static set of search terms, the user can enter either numeric or string data in this field. When the filter is applied, the data that is entered for the search term is validated based on the data type of the column that is selected for filtering.
Numeric search term example
When the column to be filtered is numeric, the user interface verifies that a valid number was entered. If an invalid number was entered, the search term is marked with an "x". Also, an error message that indicates why the search term failed validation is displayed at the beginning of the page.
String search term example
When the column to be filtered is a string, the search term is not case-sensitive. For example, if a
participant is in the database as Partner A, the following search terms would find
the participant:
