Prepare a bastion host
Prepare a bastion host that can be connected to the internet and the mirror registry.
The amount of storage that you need on the server that you use for the bastion host depends on the number
of system architectures you want to get images for. FTM supports the Intel and IBM® Power Systems
architectures. The following list describes the storage that is needed.
- To download the images for both architectures, you need at least 500 GB of storage.
- To download the images for a single architecture, you need at least 250 GB of storage.
Use the following instructions to prepare your external host.
- Install OpenSSL 1.11.1 or later if necessary.
- Install Docker 18 or later. Or, you can install Podman. You
cannot install Docker and Podman in the same Red Hat®
OpenShift® instance.
- For more information about installing Docker, on Red Hat Enterprise Linux® for example, see the Docker engine installation instructions and the postinstallation steps in the Docker Engine documentation.
- For more information about installing Podman, see the installation instructions in the Podman documentation.
- Install the IBM Catalog Management Plug-in for IBM Cloud Paks. For more information, see https://github.com/IBM/ibm-pak/tree/main. Note: Because the earlier versions will be removed from future releases of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, use the plug-in version v1.19.0 or higher.
- Red Hat OpenShift CLI plugin oc-mirror. For more information on installation, refer to the following documentation:
