Overview
The primary purpose of the Distribution engine is to build outbound segments, batches (ICLs), and transmissions. The Distribution engine creates the logical data structure for multiple types of transmissions within the FTM database.
For check transmission types, that structure is transaction within segments within batches (ICLs) within transmissions.
For other transmission types (NACHA and CPS related), it is transactions within batches (ICLs) within transmissions.
Distribution then sends an MQ message to FTM for it to map the outbound structure from the FTM database to a physical file (check types and NACHA). The broker workflow and the subtype of the transmission determine which outbound mapper is called to build the physical transmission and route it to the appropriate channel. Options that are specified in the Partner Profiles tables control how the segments, batches (ICLs), and transmissions are built. For more information on creating the artifacts necessary for proper transmission creation, see Manage Building Options Screen.
