Return reason codes
The list of return reason codes has a reason type associated with
each code. The reason types are:
- R
- indicates that the reason code is used for regular return transactions
- C
- indicates that the reason code is used for notification of change transactions
The return reason codes also have subtypes, which are called return
reason types. The return reason types are:
- R
- indicates that the reason code is for a regular return
- C
- indicates that the reason code is for a contested return
- D
- indicates that the reason code is for a dishonored return
The return reason codes provided by the sample data are the predefined codes specified in the ACH rules. It is not recommended that any of the existing return reason codes be removed or edited.
