Integration project
FTM for Immediate Payments provides two ready to run reference applications. It is expected that all customers will need to run some kind of integration project where one of the reference applications is enhanced to specific customer requirements and, most importantly, for connectivity to existing systems in the environment of the bank.
The major areas for typical integration projects are:
- Fraud Screening
- This customer provided service makes sure that any incoming or outgoing payment is allowed to be processed by FTM for Immediate Payments from a fraud detection point of view. The interface, by default, exchanges messages in the FTM Internal Standard Format (ISF). If the financial institution (FI) can support this format in this fraud screening service, the interface of the FTM for Immediate Payments reference application can remain as it is implemented and does not require significant adaptions.
- Sanction Screening
- This customer provided service makes sure that any incoming or outgoing payment is allowed to be processed by FTM for Immediate Payments from a sanction screening point of view. The interface, by default, exchanges messages in the FTM Internal Standard Format (ISF). If the financial institution (FI) can support this format in this sanction screening service, the interface of the FTM for Immediate Payments reference application can remain as it is implemented and does not require significant adaptions.
- Accounting - General Ledger
- This customer provided service makes sure that any incoming or outgoing payment is allowed to be processed by FTM for Immediate Payments. The interface, by default, exchanges messages in the FTM Internal Standard Format (ISF). If the financial institution (FI) can support this format in this accounting service, the interface of the FTM for Immediate Payments reference application can remain as it is implemented and does not require significant adaptions.
- Adaption to the customer-specific channel interfaces
- This mainly applies to the message formats sent to and from the various customer applications that represent the payment channel interfaces. By default, FTM for Immediate Payments assumes that the standard ISO messages (mainly pacs.008 and pacs.002) are to be exchanged. If the customer wants to keep existing earlier applications with their format on the channel interfaces, the mappers to and from those channels must be modified or even replaced.
- Support for clearing and settlement mechanisms other than TCH and SctInst
- Although FTM for Immediate Payments is designed to support any ISO20022 based immediate payment mechanism, the reference applications support The Clearing House (TCH) and SEPA Instant Payments (SctInst) schemes for immediate payments. Where support for other clearing and settlement mechanisms (CSMs) is required, those CSMs can be integrated by corresponding individual customization of the CSM interfaces, process definitions, or both.
- Customization of the process flows
- The process flows currently support The Clearing House (TCH) and SEPA Instant Payments (SctInst) schemes for immediate payments. If a customer wishes to customize the pre-defined flows, or needs to implement alternate process flows for an alternate immediate payment scheme, this can be done as part of the integration project. Customers should start by analyzing the delivered process flow, as described in Functional Flows, and the FSMs that implement these flows to decide whether the standard extension points can be used to support the requirements or if a more comprehensive customization is required.
More information about configuration, integration, and customization is described in the following sections.
