Create, view, or edit global limit monitor page
The global limit monitor page displays the fields that are used to create, view, or update a global limit monitor. For existing global limit monitors, the name of the global limit monitor is shown in the title of the page.
The page has the fields that are shown in the following list. Required fields are indicated with an
asterisk. All of the fields are read-only when the page is in view mode.
- Description *
- Enter a unique description for the global limit monitor.
- Monitor Level *
- Indicate whether this global limit monitor applies to the batch (ICL), transaction, or transmission level. Select the level from the list.
- Limit span *
- Indicate whether this global limit monitor is active for only a single batch (ICL) or transaction or whether it is active for a certain time period. Select the limit span from the list. The single batch and single transaction options are only available when the monitor level is batch or transaction.
- Prefunded
- Select this checkbox to indicate whether the prefunded user exit is called to monitor the activity of the partner. The prefunded user exit checkbox is only available when the limit span field is time period and the level is batch or transmission.
- Monitor type *
- The type of this global limit monitor. Depending on the values that are selected in the monitor level and limit span fields, the monitor type is a message standard, a message type, or an inbound product. Select the type from the list.
- Message standard (grouping) *
- The specific message standard or message standard grouping to use for this limit monitor. Only transactions that use this message standard or belong to the grouping are subject to the limit monitoring. Select a message standard or grouping from the list. This field is displayed only when the monitor type is a message standard.
- Message type (grouping) *
- The specific message type or message type grouping to use for this limit monitor. Only transactions that use this message type or belong to the grouping are subject to the limit monitoring. Select a message type or grouping from the list. This field is displayed only when the monitor type is a message type.
- Product *
- This field is displayed only when the monitor type is set to inbound product. Select the specific inbound product for this global limit monitor from the list.
- Effective begin date
- The month and day of the first date of the date range to which this global limit monitor applies. Enter
the date as a numeric month and day in the following format:
MM/DD
. - Effective end date
- The month and day of the last date of the date range to which this global limit monitor applies. Enter the
date as a numeric month and day in the following format:
MM/DD
. - Date type *
- The type of the dates that are used by this global limit monitor. Select either business date or calendar date from the list.
- Monitor Details
- This area contains the debit and credit information for this global limit monitor. A monitor must have at
least one limit that is defined for it.
- Credit limit
- The amount to use for the credit limit for this monitor.
- Credit error code
- The error code that is used by this global limit monitor when it rejects a credit. Select an error code from the list. If an error code is not selected, an appropriate default error code from the Risk Management general properties is used. This default error code is determined by using the values in the monitor level, limit span, and prefunded fields.
- Credit period
- The number of days that the monitor monitors the credit limit. This field is only shown when the limit span field is set to time period.
- Debit limit
- The amount to use for the debit limit for this monitor.
- Debit error code
- The error code that is used by this global limit monitor when it rejects a debit. Select an error code from the list. If an error code is not selected, an appropriate default error code from the Risk Management general properties is used. This default error code is determined by using the values in the monitor level, limit span, and prefunded fields.
- Debit period
- The number of days that the monitor monitors the debit limit. This field is only shown when the limit span field is set to time period.
- Change rules
- This field contains the list of limit change rules that are part of this global limit monitor.
Columns
The columns that are available on the change rules part of the page are shown in the following table.
Column name or function | Description |

Selection control | The first column is used to select one or more limit change rules from the list. Clicking the table header for this column selects all of the limit change rules in the list. |
Priority | The priority number that is assigned to this limit change rule. The limit change rules for this global limit monitor are evaluated in the order of their priority, from highest to lowest. The evaluation continues until the conditions in a limit change rule are met or it is determined that none of the limit change rules apply. A lower number indicates a higher priority. |
Name | The name of this limit change rule. The name is a link to the limit change rule page for this change rule. |
Change conditions | The number of limit change conditions that are associated with this limit change rule. The number is a link to use to display the limit change conditions for this change rule. |
Credit limit | The credit limit amount that is assigned to this limit change rule. |
Debit limit | The debit limit amount that is assigned to this limit change rule. |
Actions
The actions that are available on the page are shown in the following list.
- Open documentation link opens the help page.
- Save saves any changes that were made to the global limit monitor.
- Cancel either returns to the global limit monitors page or returns this page to view mode. All unsaved changes are lost.
- Delete deletes the global limit monitor. This action is disabled when the user does not have the permissions that are needed to delete global limit monitors.
- Edit changes the page to edit mode.
- Close returns to the global limit monitors page.
- Create displays the create limit change rule page to add a limit change rule.
- Search entry field. Typing text in this field automatically filters the limit change rules that are displayed in the table. The table displays only those limit change rules that match what was typed in the search field.
- Delete icon, which deletes the selected limit change rules from the global limit monitor. This action is disabled when the user does not have the permissions that are needed to update the global limit monitor.
- Name link, which is located in the name column of the change rule list, displays the limit change rule page for the selected limit change rule.
- Change conditions link, which is located in the change conditions column of the change rule list, displays the limit change conditions that are defined for the selected limit change rule.
