Import existing configuration data

Existing configuration data in an FTM database can be imported into the model. First, you will need to configure a database connection in your Rational® workspace using the following steps:
  1. Open the Data Source Explorer view using Window > Show View > Other... > Data Management > Data Source Explorer.
Note: If the Data Source Explorer view is not available, use IBM® Installation Manager to check that the Data Tools feature has been installed.
  2. In the Data Source Explorer, create a new database connection profile using the appropriate connections properties.
  3. Connect to the database using the new connection profile.

To import configuration data using the new connection profile:

In the Modelling perspective, select the model node, right-click, and then select FTM > Import Configuration Data.

Select the required connection profile.
Note: If the database name field is empty, the connection profile is disconnected.
When you click OK, you will be asked to select the package or folder in your model where the imported configuration data will be created.
Note: The database schema name used by this importer function can be set in the FTM Configuration Data properties page. To open this properties page, select the model node, right-click, select Properties > FTM Configuration Data1. Change the schema name in the Schema name field in the Importer group dialog box.

Click OK to import the configuration data.
When the data has been imported, the model validation is run and all issues are displayed.
Note: The import function will place the imported configuration data objects into the following structure in the model. All channels are placed in the Channel package, all mappers are placed in the Mappers package, and so on.
