Creditor FI Incoming Recall (SCT Inst)

The main Creditor FI Incoming Recall flow.

Use Case Summary

The Recall can be initiated by a (debtor) client, or a debtor FI in order to request the return of a payment that was sent in error. The recall is delivered by the debtor FI to the CSM. The CSM delivers the recall to the creditor FI who can pass the request to their (creditor) client.

Once the recall has been accepted, and the (creditor) client notified, the recall needs to be investigated, after which a Response to Recall (or Resolution of Investigation) would normally be initiated by the (creditor) client to either accept or reject the recall. Alternatively, a payment return could be initiated to return the funds. FTM for Immediate Payments provides a capability, as an alternative to the initiation by the (creditor) client, for the Resolution of Investigation to be initiated by the bank’s operational personnel, via operator commands issued through the FTM console.

The creditor FI incoming recall case consists of the following processing steps:

  • FTM for Immediate Payments receives a recall from the CSM.
  • The recall is validated and correlated to the original payment.
  • If the previous validation step is successful, the set of services that are configured for the Pre-Check set are invoked.
  • If validation is not successful or the Pre-Check services did not complete successfully, FTM for Immediate Payments sends a negative response to the CSM to confirm rejection of the recall in the form of a camt.029 message.
  • Otherwise, a notification is sent to the Channels interface, which in turn may provide a notification to the (creditor) client.
  • FTM for Immediate Payments waits until a Response to Recall (Resolution of Investigation) related to this request has been processed before completing the process.
  • While waiting for the completion, an operator command may be received, which causes the initiation of a Response to Recall that, depending on the command, either performs an 'accept return' or 'reject' of the recall.
