chlicense

Use the chlicense command to change license settings for system functions.

Parameters

-flash capacity_TB | number_of_enclosures
(Required) Changes system licensing for the FlashCopy® function. Depending on your system, specify a capacity in terabytes (TB) or specify the total number of internal and external enclosures for the FlashCopy function.
-remote capacity_TB | number_of_enclosures
(Required) Changes system licensing for policy-based replication and policy-based high availability functions. Depending on your system, specify a capacity in terabytes (TB) or specify the total number of internal and external enclosures that you have licensed on your system. You must have an enclosure license for all enclosures.
-virtualization capacity_TB | virtualization_setting_in_scu | number_of_enclosures
(Required) Changes system licensing for the Virtualization function. Depending on your system, specify a capacity in terabytes (TB) or specify the total number of storage capacity units (SCUs) that you are licensed to virtualize across tiers of storage on your system or specify the number of enclosures of external storage that you are authorized to use.
-compression capacity_TB | virtualization_setting_in_scu | number_of_enclosures
(Required) Changes system licensing for the compression function. Depending on your system, specify a capacity value in terabytes (TB) or specify the total number of storage capacity units (SCUs) that you are licensed to virtualize across tiers of storage on your system or specify the total number of internal and external enclosures that you have licensed on your system. Only models that have installed extra memory module (16-GB DIMM) support compression.
-physical_flash on | off
(Required) For physical disk licensing, this parameter enables or disables the FlashCopy function. The default value is off.
-easytier number_of_enclosures
(Required) Specifies the number of enclosures on which you can run Easy Tier®.
-encryption on | off
(Required) Specifies whether the encryption license function is enabled or disabled. The values are on or off.

Description

The chlicense command changes license settings for the system. Any change that is made is logged as an event in the license setting log.

Any error that is placed in the license settings log results in a generic error being placed in the system error log. The command-line tool return code also notifies you that you are using an unlicensed function.
