Installing the cable-management arms

The cable-management arms (CMA) are used to efficiently route the cables so that you can pull the enclosure out to change a fan module without needing to unplug any cables. Use the procedure to install the CMA.

About this task

To install the cable-management arms, complete the following steps.

Procedure

  1. The enclosure includes two cable-management arms. Install one arm on each side of the rear of the enclosure.

  2. Squeeze point [1], and insert the inner cable-management arm tab into the inner mounting bracket at the end of the inner rail. Push until it clicks into place.
  3. Squeeze point [2], and insert the outer cable-management arm tab into the outer mounting bracket at the end of the outer rail. Push until it clicks into place.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to install the second cable-management arm on the other side.

What to do next

Important: When fitting cables into the CMA, ensure the following:
  • Signal cables are secured to the canisters by their connector latches.
  • Power cables are secured to the power‑supply handles by using the hook‑and‑loop tape as shown.
  • The cable length along each CMA includes a minimum amount of slack.
  • The enclosure can be extended forward into the service position without placing tension on the cables.
  • Cables are retained in each arm by using the hook‑and‑loop tape as shown in the figure.
  • Cables for the left canister use the left CMA, and cables for the right canister use the right CMA.
As you cable the control enclosure, route each cable through the CMAs, as shown in Figure 2.
