Supported host operating systems for high availability
Policy-based high availability supports a reduced set of the operating systems that are supported by IBM Storage Virtualize.
The following operating systems are supported with policy-based high availability when connected
using Fibre Channel SCSI:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux, including with KVM (all supported versions).
- SUSE Linux Enterprise (all supported versions).
- IBM AIX (version 7.2 and later).
- Linux on IBM Z (all supported versions and distributions).
- VMware ESXi (all supported versions, excluding vVols).
- IBM i 7.4 TR11 or later, IBM i 7.5 TR5 or later, IBM i 7.6 or later. Fabric-attached Fibre Channel only.
For more information about host compatibility, see IBM System Storage Interoperation Center (SSIC).
Hosts configured for high availability must have the generic host type. Existing hosts with deprecated host types should be changed to the generic host type.
Volumes configured for high availability cannot be mapped to other IBM Storage Virtualize systems.
