Electromagnetic compatibility Class A notices

The following Class A statements apply to IBM® products and their features unless designated as electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) Class B in the feature information.

When attaching a monitor to the equipment, you must use the designated monitor cable and any interference suppression devices that are supplied with the monitor.

Equipment complying with IEC 61000-3-12.

This product meets power-line conducted emissions requirements in all regulatory measurement configurations. An inline EMI filter may be utilized in the event of observed power-line conducted emissions interference which may occur in a power distribution unit, or similar power supply sources where line cords can be shared or otherwise on a common bus. The Roxburgh PMF-10 filter or unit expecting differential mode attenuation performance of 15 dB or greater in the 200-500 kHz band, quantity 1 filter per power supply, has been observed to address this power-line configuration.

Two-way radio or cellular telephone usage need to be properly controlled in the computer room. To reduce the likelihood of a problem, the following recommendations need to be considered when operating such equipment:
  • Keep hand-held transmitters (for example, walkie-talkies, radio paging, and cellular telephones) a minimum of 1.5 m (5 ft) from information technology equipment.
  • Use only an operator-controlled transmitting device (no automatic transmissions). Develop specific rules, such as do not transmit within 1.5 m (5 ft) of a fully covered operating system. If covers are open, do not transmit.
  • Use the lowest output power that accomplishes your communication needs.
