Installing a control enclosure

Following your enclosure location plan, install the control enclosure.

About this task

The installation procedure applies to control enclosures.
  • Each control enclosure must be installed only on the control enclosure rails provided with the enclosure.
CAUTION:
  • To lift a control enclosure requires a lifting machine or at least three people.
  • Install a control enclosure only onto the control enclosure rails supplied with the enclosure.
  • Load the rack from the bottom up to ensure rack stability. Empty the rack from the top down.

Procedure

To install a control enclosure, complete the following steps.

  1. Align the enclosure with the front of the rack cabinet.
  2. Align the inner part of the rail which is attached to the enclosure with the outer part of the rail which is attached to the rack.

What to do next

If you removed components from the enclosure to lift it, reinstall the components into the slots of the enclosure from which they were removed.

Fit the bezel to the front of the enclosure by hooking on the left side of the bezel and punching the right side of the bezel up against the enclosure. You can optionally fit a Kensington lock to secure the bezel after installation.

In the management GUI panel Monitoring > System Hardware, you can change the bezel color by using the Bezel settings option under the Enclosure actions menu. The bezel light turns off when the enclosure identification light turns on.

Fit the cable management arms to the back of the rails. For more information, see Installing the cable-management arms.
