4460 Replication is suspended due to volume capacity differences between systems.

Explanation

The issue arises if the provisioned capacity of the production copy is smaller than that of the recovery copy while restarting a replication.

User response

Suggested solution

To expand the size of the production volume to match the size of the recovery copy, complete the following steps:

  1. On the recovery system, identify the size of the recovery volume.
  2. On the production system, expand the size of the production volume.
    • Using the GUI, open the Volumes view. Select the volume from the table, and then modify the volume capacity.
    • Using the CLI, use the chvolume to modify the volume capacity.
  3. Mark the error as fixed.
Alternative solution

To keep the current smaller size for the production volume, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to the system with the recovery copy and complete the following steps:
    1. (Optional) If you want to retain a copy of the larger volume, take a snapshot of the recovery volume group.
    2. Enable access to the recovery volume group.
    3. Delete the larger volume.
  2. Log in to the system you want to use for production and complete the following steps:
    1. Mark the error event as fixed.
    2. Restart replication for the volume group. The system automatically re-creates the recovery copy of the volume on the remote system with the same size as the production copy.
    3. Monitor the synchronization progress. The recovery point is updated when synchronization is completed.
  3. (Optional) After the synchronization is complete, the volume group snapshot taken in step 1 is redundant and can be deleted from the system with the recovery copy.
