Vital product data (VPD) is information that uniquely records each hardware and licensed-internal-code element in the nodes.

For each node, the VPD includes the following items:
  • Installed software version
  • Details of the hardware configuration
  • Levels of the hardware
  • FRU part numbers
  • FRU microcode levels
  • Firmware and software component levels
  • VPD for the batteries.
  • Details of the system configuration
