You can map VMware iSCSI volumes to a guest OS.
About this task
After you first create the virtual machine, complete the following steps to
map the volumes:
Procedure

From the vSphere Client, select the type of virtual machine
from the list on the left side of the inventory.
- Right-click
your selection and power on the virtual machine.

Select the Console tab and install the guest OS from your installation
CD or your network.
- When the OS installation process is complete, power off
the virtual machine.
- From the vSphere Client,
right-click the virtual machine
and click Edit Settings.

Right-click the guest OS and click Edit Settings.
- Click Add to add the iSCSI
volumes.

Power off the guest OS.
- Click Hard Disk and click Next.
- Click Raw Device Mapping and
click Next.
- Click the
volume to be mapped and click Next.
- Click Store With Virtual Machine and
click Next.
- Click Physical and
click Next.

Click Virtual Device Node as the default and click
Next.
- Click Finish,
and then click OK.
- Power
on the virtual machine and verify that the mapping
process was successful:
- On Linux®, issue the
fdisk-l
command.
- On Microsoft Windows, start the Device Manager
and scan for iSCSI volumes.
What to do next
When the volumes are mapped to the guest OS, I/O functions are available on the new iSCSI
volume.
