Migrating

The system can support migration through several types of connections. The system considerations can vary depending on the connection that is used.

Migrating data between systems non-disruptively
Both the management GUI and command-line interface support migrating volume data between systems non-disruptively. The non-disruptive system migration is a remote-copy relationship type that is dedicated to volume migration between systems.
Migrating data by using Fibre Channel connections
You can use Fibre Channel (FC) connections to migrate data from a Storwize® family system to a FlashSystem 7300 system.
Migrating data by using iSCSI connections
On FlashSystem 7300 systems, you can use iSCSI connections to migrate data from different systems and to virtualize external storage systems.
Migrating from Fibre Channel connections to RDMA over Ethernet connections between nodes
The system supports node-to-node connections that use Ethernet protocols that support remote direct memory access (RDMA) technology, such as RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) or iWARP. To use these protocols, the system requires that an RDMA-capable adapter is installed on each node and dedicated RDMA-capable Ethernet ports are only configured for node-to-node communication. If your system currently uses Fibre Channel ports, you can migrate to RDMA-capable Ethernet ports for node-to-node communications.
