Managing pools

MDisks can be added to pools when the pool is created or later.

MDisks can be removed from pools if there are sufficient free extents in the pool. Before physically removing a MDisk from a system, the MDisk must be removed from the pool by using the command-line interface (CLI) or the management GUI.

When MDisks are removed from a pool, any data on the MDisk is migrated to other MDisks in the pool. Wait for this process to complete before physically removing the MDisk. After the MDisk has been physically removed from the system, you may need to perform a rescan so that it disappears from views.

You can determine the relationship between MDisks and Volumes by using the CLI commands lsvdiskmember, lsmdiskmember, lsvdiskextent, and lsmdiskextent.

If using external storage, you can determine the relationship between MDisks and controller LUNs using the CLI commands lscontroller and lsmdisk.
