System update

To obtain fixes or new features, you need to update the system software and firmware. For updates about known issues and new code levels, you can subscribe to the My Notifications service on the www.ibm.com website. See IBM support for details and to subscribe.

Most systems, including NVMe drives, can be fully updated using the main product software package. SAS drives need to be updated using Drive firmware update. The full system update procedure restarts each node in turn to enable host I/O to continue through the partner node during the update.

Some parts of the system can be updated without restarting the nodes. This includes drive firmware updates, security patches and RTD models. Related packages are released independently of the main software package. Furthermore, some of these packages can be set to auto download and auto update. For more information, see Obtaining packages.
