rmhost
Use the rmhost command to delete a host object.
Syntax
Parameters
- -force
- (Optional) Specifies that you want the system to delete the host object even if mappings still exist between this host and volumes. When the -force parameter is specified, the mappings are deleted before the host object is deleted.
- host_name | host_id| host_uuid
- (Required) Specifies the host object to delete, either by ID or by name or by UUID.
Description
The rmhost command deletes the logical host object. The WWPNs that were contained by this host object (if it is still connected and logged in to the fabric) are returned to the unconfigured state. When you issue the lsfcportcandidate or lssasportcandidate command, the host objects are listed as candidate ports.
The rmhost command deletes the logical host object. The identifiers that were contained by this host object (if it is still connected and logged in to the fabric) are returned to the unconfigured state. If you issue the lsfcportcandidate, lsportip, or lsibportcandidate command, the host objects are listed as candidate ports.
- This command deletes the associated host throttle if that host is removed.
- When a host object is associated with an auto zoning enabled portset, the corresponding peer zones are removed from the switch.
- Volume protection is enabled (using the chsystem command)
- The host being deleted is mapped to any volume that has received I/O within the defined volume protection time period
If any mappings still exist between this host and volumes, the command fails unless you specify the -force parameter. When the -force parameter is specified, the rmhost command deletes the mappings before the host object is deleted.
- The user must identify objects using the name or UUID. Short IDs cannot be specified when using the partition IP address.
- Only objects belonging to the partition can be created or acted upon. When creating new objects, the -partition parameter will be auto-populated for the partition. You cannot move items out of a partition when using the partition IP address.
