Planning for connectivity

Plan to provide the network infrastructure and the storage network infrastructure that your system requires.

Before you begin

Event notifications and call home notifications from the storage enclosures are done by email. This process requires the IP address of an email server that can access the internet.

Suitability for telecommunication environment: This product is not intended to connect directly or indirectly by any means whatsoever to interfaces of public telecommunications networks.

The SAN must contain only supported switches, Fibre Channel extenders, and SAN routers. See the following website for specific firmware levels and the latest supported hardware: www.ibm.com/support.
