Determining and changing the Fibre Channel network speed
The speed of the Fibre Channel (FC) ports is auto-negotiated with the FC switch or host to which the ports are connected.
Determining the FC port speed
The ports operate at the highest speed at which a reliable connection can be established. Different ports and nodes in a system can operate at different speeds.
You can use several methods to determine the port speed of a FC port on a node.
- Determining the FC port speed with the management GUI
If the node is in a system that is operational, you can determine the FC port speed with the management GUI.
To view the FC port speed in the management GUI, complete these steps:
- Select .
- On the System -- Overview page, select the directional arrow next to the node that contains the FC port.
- On the Node Details page, under the rear view of the node, hover over the FC port to display details about the port including the port speed. You can also select Fibre Channel Port to display port information for all configured ports in the Component Details tile.
- Determining the FC port speed with the service assistant GUI
You can determine the FC port speed with the service assistant GUI.
To view the FC port speed in the service assistant GUI, complete these steps:
- Point your web browser to serviceaddress/service for the node that you want to work on.
- Log on to the service assistant using the superuser password.
- Select the Port tab under Node Details to view the speed of the FC port.
- Determining the FC port speed from the CLI
If the node is in a system that is operational, you can determine the FC port speed using the CLI commands.
To view the FC port speed of a system, issue the following
command:
svcinfo lsportfc 0
The following output is an example of what you
might see. The FC port speed is shown in bold.id 0
fc_io_port_id 1
port_id 1
type fc
port_speed 16Gb
