ECM System Monitor
IBM® Enterprise Content Management System Monitor (ESM) provides enhanced monitoring capabilities for IBM Enterprise Content Management (ECM) applications and their infrastructure – both for on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
With ESM, you can achieve higher availability, better performance, and reduced operations costs. The productivity of your business users is protected. Your end customers experience the service quality that they expect.
ESM provides the following features:
- Notifications for issues with any ECM business service
- Your increased awareness can prevent productivity losses in business departments.
- The ability to automate tasks
- Respond to incidents without manual administrator intervention. Automate mundane routine activities.
- Knowledge base
- The knowledge Base contains information about possible error causes and corrective actions. You can extend the knowledge base to meet customer requirements. For example, you can monitor third party and custom applications.
- Event forwarding from ESM to IT service management tools
- The IT operations team can manage the ESM Platform 24 x 7 in the team's enterprise event console.
- Analysis and reporting of events, performance, and capacity metrics
- Gain a better understanding of system behavior and evolution. Manage service level agreements and compliance reports.
ESM includes two architectural components:
- Dedicated management server
- The server collects and processes the events that are sent from the agents that are installed on the managed systems. The events are stored in an event database. The management server has analytics and reporting tools. Events can be forwarded to your central IT service management tools, such as IBM Tivoli® Netcool® OMNIbus.
- Agents that run on the managed systems
- Agents monitor the systems and analyze logs. Typically, agents are installed on the servers that they monitor. However, for components that run on z/OS® mainframes, the agents monitor the servers remotely. Because the agents can monitor remote databases from the ECM engines, you are not required to install agents on the database servers.
