Storage area types

A storage area is a place where Content Platform Engine stores content. The following types of storage areas are supported:

Database and file storage areas
Database and file storage areas are the easiest types of storage areas to set up.
Fixed storage areas
A fixed storage area is an external (non-FileNet® P8) fixed content system that provides storage and data retention.
Advanced storage areas
An advanced storage area provides high availability content storage and disaster recovery through use of replication and replica repair.
Replication
Advanced storage areas are designed to be flexible enough to support a wide variety of replication models, including the common modes for high availability and disaster recovery.
Creating a storage area
Use the New Storage Area wizard to create a file storage area or a fixed storage area.
Changing the storage area resource status
You can directly change the resource status for a storage area.
Deleting a file storage area or fixed storage area
You can delete a file storage area or a fixed storage area when it is no longer needed.
Moving a file storage area
You can relocate a file storage area from one physical location to another.
Moving content between storage areas
Use a job sweep or sweep policy to move content for large numbers of documents and annotations from one storage area to another.
