Exporting content

By default, you can export investigation data to a CSV file or to a PDF file. You can also refine the content that you want to export. For example, you might export only account data for an investigation, or exclude associated notes and documents. By filtering data, you can export only pertinent information, or hide sensitive data.

About this task

From the In-Baskets page, you can select one or more investigations to export. Keep in mind that only the primary data shown on this page is exported. Details, such as business objects, related investigations, and documents are not included in an export from the In-Baskets page.

From the Details page, you can export in-depth data for the selected investigation. You can export all associated data (by default) or customize the output for items that you do not want to export. For example, you can export all business objects linked to an investigation, or select specific business object types (Account, Event, Group, Individual, Organization, Physical Object, or Transaction). If you export parent, child, or related investigations, associated notes and documents are also exported by default.

Procedure

To export investigation data, choose one of the following:
  • From the In-Baskets page:
    1. Select one or more investigations to export.
    2. Click More Actions icon More Actions and select Export iconExport.
    3. In the Export window, select the format to export the data to. Optionally, select Show All Properties to export any properties that do not have a data value. Undefined properties are hidden by default.
    4. Click OK to start exporting data.
    5. At the prompt to open or save the archive file, select an option and click OK. If you save the file, it is downloaded to the download directory that is configured for your browser.

Primary data that is included on the In-Baskets page for selected investigations is exported.

  • From the Details page of an investigation:
    1. Click More Actions icon More Actions and select Export iconExport.
    2. In the Export window, select the format to export the data to. Optionally, select Show All Properties to export any properties that do not have a data value. Undefined properties are hidden by default.
    3. Clear the check boxes of any items (and nested items) that you do not want included in the export.
Remember: You can export only the types of notes and documents that you are authorized to view.
    4. Select the Filter check box next to an item to refine your output even further. For example, you might want to export the Claim Description field for an object, but not the Loss Description field. You can also select specific business object types to export. For example, you might want to export Accounts and Transactions only. Click OK to save your changes.
    5. If notes are attached to one or more investigations, you might see a Do Not Include check box next to the note. Select to indicate that Private notes, their replies, and related documents are not included in the export.
Attention: An Administrator can set this check box by default so that private information is not shared externally. Depending on the types of notes configured, selecting Do Not Include can also flag "sensitive" note types wherever they occur. For example, if an investigation includes a sensitive note type as a reply to a Public note, the reply is not exported.
    6. Click OK to save your changes and start exporting data.
    7. At the prompt to open or save the archive file, select an option and click OK. If you save the file, it is downloaded to the download directory that is configured for your browser.

Results

Data is exported to an archive file, which contains data in the format you selected. If you select to export to CSV format, you can have one or more files. For example, a single CSV file is created for each investigation business object type. Notes, documents, and related/child/parent investigations are also exported as separate files.
