Creating projects
You can create projects or workloads in IBM® Guardium® Exposure Manager to enable logical grouping of data stores or workloads for the application of policies, as required.
- Cloud tags

Creating projects based on cloud tags
Use the following steps to create a project in IBM Guardium Exposure Manager on the basis of cloud tags.
- From the main menu, click Scopes.
- In the Projects tab of the Scopes page, click Create project.
- In the Choose method step of the Create projects wizard, select the Cloud tags card and then click Next.
- In the Choose tag keys step of the Create projects wizard, select one or more cloud tags on the basis of which you want to create projects, and then click Next.
Note:
- You must select at least one cloud tag for project creation.
- Variations of cloud tags are normalized. For example, tags such as prod, prd, production, and produc are considered to be production.
- If a cloud tag is not discovered, then the check boxes for the undiscovered cloud tags are disabled.
- In the Preview projects step of the Create projects wizard, preview the list of projects that IBM Guardium Exposure Manager is going to create, deselect any project that you do not want to create, and then click Next.
Note:
- Project names are automatically generated. You can rename the projects after they are created, as required.
Each unique combination of cloud tag values creates a project. Only new combinations result in new projects.

- In the Review and finish set up step of the Create projects wizard, review the number of projects that IBM Guardium Exposure Manager is going to create based on different cloud tags, and then click Create.
Projects are created by IBM Guardium Exposure Manager on the basis of selected cloud tags. The data stores associated with the cloud accounts are grouped as part of those projects and the default policy is assigned to the project. However, you can change the policy assignments after the projects are created. During the scheduled discovery job, data stores are automatically added or removed from the cloud-tag-based projects according to their tags.
Creating projects based on cloud accounts
Use the following steps to create a project in IBM Guardium Exposure Manager on the basis of cloud account.
- From the main menu, click Scopes.
- In the Projects tab of the Scopes page, click Create project.
- In the Choose method step of the Create projects wizard, select the Accounts card, and then click Next.
- In the Preview projects step of the Create projects wizard, preview the list of projects that IBM Guardium Exposure Manager is going to create, deselect any project that you do not want to create, and then click Next.
Note:
- Project names are automatically generated. You can change a project name by hovering over the project name and then clicking the Edit icon in the Preview projects step of the Create projects wizard. You can also rename the projects after they are created.
- Each cloud account that IBM Guardium Exposure Manager discovers can be a project.
- In the Review and finish set up step of the Create projects wizard, review the number of projects that IBM Guardium Exposure Manager is going to create based on different cloud accounts, and then click Create.
Projects are created by IBM Guardium Exposure Manager on the basis of selected cloud accounts. The data stores associated with the cloud accounts are grouped as part of those projects the and the default workload policy is assigned to each created project. During discovery schedules, data stores that are added or removed from a cloud account are automatically added or removed from the project.
Creating projects based on manual assignments
Use the following steps to create a project in IBM Guardium Exposure Manager on the basis of manual assignments.
- From the main menu, click Scopes.
- In the Projects tab of the Scopes page, click Create project.
- In the Choose method step of the Create projects wizard, select the Manual card, and then click Next.
- In the Create project step of the Create projects wizard, enter the Name and an optional Description, and then click Next.
- In the Select data stores step of the Create projects wizard, select the data stores that you want to add to the project, and then click Next.
Note: You can toggle Show Default project data stores only on to select data stores for the new project from the system's default project only.
- In the Review and finish step of the Create projects wizard, review the number of data stores and policy name applied to the projects that IBM Guardium Exposure Manager is going to create, and then click Create.
A new project is created by IBM Guardium Exposure Manager on the basis of manually selected data stores and the default policy is assigned to the project.
