Configuring Slack integration

You can integrate IBM® Guardium® Exposure Manager with a Slack server to send outgoing messages for notifications and policy alerts.

Before you begin

To configure a Slack integration, you need to create a Slack app. When you create the integration, you will need to use the app's incoming WebHook or its bot user token. You can obtain these values as follows:

If you will use Webhook, open your app in https://api.slack.com/apps and then select Features > Incoming Webhooks and ensure that incoming Webhooks are activated and that you workspace has a Webhook URL. Copy the Webhook URL and, when creating your integration in IBM Guardium Exposure Manager, paste it in the Webhook URL field.
If you will use a bot token, open your app in https://api.slack.com/apps:
- Select Features > OAuth & Permissions. Under OAuth Tokens for Your Workspace, copy the Bot User OAuth Token.
  Note: While in the OAuth & Permissions page, you can scroll to the Scopes section. In this section, confirm that the Bot Token Scopes include chat:write (this scope provides the ability to send messages to channels and it is necessary for integrating with IBM Guardium Exposure Manager).
- Select Basic Information > App-Level Tokens. Then select your token in the Token Name list. After opening the token, copy its Token value.
- When you use a bot token, specify the Slack Channel that the IBM Guardium Exposure Manager integration will post to. This channel must include your Slack app. In the channel, type /invite, select Add apps to this channel, and then add your app to the channel.

Procedure

From the main menu, click Management hub > Integrations.
On the Integrations page, click the Discover tab, and then click the Slack card.
In the About step of the Connect to Slack wizard, read the information, and then click Next.

In the Configure step of the Connect to Slack wizard, enter the following Slack configuration details, and then click Test connection to ensure that IBM Guardium Exposure Manager can connect to the Slack server.

Name	Enter a unique name for the integration.
Credential type	If you select Webhook, enter the Bot token and Public SSL certificate that you retrieved from your Slack app. If you select Token, enter enter the Bot token, App-level token, Channel, and Public SSL certificate that you retrieved from your Slack app.

After testing the connection, click Finish to save the Slack configuration and create the integration.

Results

After you create a Slack integration, you can send outgoing messages for notifications and policy alerts in IBM Guardium Exposure Manager.
