Configuring Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) integration

You can integrate IBM® Guardium® Exposure Manager with a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server so that you can configure email notifications for important actions within the system.

About this task

You can configure the SMTP server to enable or disable email notifications for IBM Guardium Exposure Manager users.

Procedure

  1. From the main menu, click Management hub > Integrations.
  2. On the Integrations page, click the Discover tab, and then click the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) card.
  3. In the About step of the Connect to SMTP wizard, read the information, and then click Next.
  4. In the Configure step of the Connect to SMTP wizard, enter the following SMTP configuration details, and then click Test connection to ensure that IBM Guardium Exposure Manager can connect to the SMTP server and can send emails.
    • Name
    • Host (optional)
    • Port (optional)
    • Return-path email address
    • Username (optional)
    • Password (optional)
    • Public SSL Certificate
  5. After testing the connection, click Finish to save the SMTP configuration and create the integration.

Results

If your SMTP configuration is valid, you receive an email confirming that the SMTP configuration is valid. After notifications have been enabled, you can complete the Managing profile settings to set the types of email notifications that you would like to receive, along with other email preferences.
