Value Unit client licensing considerations

z/OS® Explorer client enables Value Unit (VU) client licensing for licensed products that are installed with z/OS Explorer version 3.0.1 and later.

z/OS Explorer VU generates a Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) to support licensed clients that are installed with z/OS Explorer. When VU licensed client images are centrally created and distributed to multiple client machines or machine images, a new UUID needs to be generated on each machine or machine image. The UUID is required to maintain the correct licensed client count. To generate a UUID for each client image distributed in this manner, specify the -DUUID.reset=true option in the eclipse.ini file. After a new UUID is generated in the client, remove the -DUUID.reset=true option in the eclipse.ini file.
