Creating Nested Pivot Tables

You can create a nested pivot table for viewing spend across multiple dimensions to determine how the spend is used across each entity.

Procedure

To create a nested pivot table, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the dimension for which you want to create a table or graph in the Main View.
  2. Apply filters, expand nodes, or perform any other operations on the dimensions for which you want to create a tabulation.
Note: The tabulation displays the dimensions that are used, as column headers
  3. Click the Tabulation icon on the dimension header. The Tabulation/Graph dialog box is displayed in the Main Panel.
  4. Type a name for the tabulation in the Name box.
  5. Select the Display Type option as Table.
Note: The Graph display type is not applicable for nested pivot tables. If you select the Graph option, when you submit the tabulation, an error message is displayed notifying you that the Graph Type display is not supported for this tabulation.
  6. In the Content section, select the Nested Pivot Tablecheck box.
  7. Select dimensions for Row fields across which you want to view the spend.
  8. In the Display Measures section, select the measures that you want to view in the tabulation.
  9. In the Tabulation Type section, select either the Original option or the Top Reports option. If you want the tabulation report to be available in the Top Reports section, select Top Reports, and then select the Top Report type from the drop-down list.
  10. In the Preferences section, select one of the following options:
    • Restrict Results to Dimensional Preferences: To use the dimension data in the current state.
    • Override Dimensional Preferences: To override dimensional preferences.
  11. Click Submit.
  12. Click Refresh to refresh the view. The newly created tabulation is displayed.
