Installing Grafana operator

The OpenShift® administrator can install the custom Grafana operator to the OpenShift cluster.

1. Log in to the OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) by using the OpenShift administrator credentials.
2. Select the project from the Project list where you installed the Prometheus operator.
3. In the left panel, go to Operators > OperatorHub.
4. To find the Grafana operator, enter the search term grafana, and click Grafana Operator provided by Red Hat, which is a community operator.
   
5. On the Grafana Operator page click Install. The Create Operator Subscription page is shown. Complete the following steps to create the Grafana operator subscription:
   1. Select the installation mode by clicking A specific namespace on the cluster, and choose your project where you want to install the Grafana operator.
   2. If the Grafana operator is available through various channels, choose the appropriate channel that you want to subscribe to. Click stable to deploy from the stable channel.
   3. Select the Approval Strategy as Manual.
      Note: You can choose the Approval Strategy based on how you want OLM to upgrade the Grafana operator, when a new version is available. If you choose the Approval Strategy as Automatic, the Grafana operator is automatically upgraded to the new version by the OLM without human intervention. If you choose the Approval strategy as Manual, the OLM creates an update request. After you manually approve the update request, the Grafana operator is upgraded to the new version by OLM.
   4. Click Subscribe. The Grafana operator details are shown on the Installed Operator page. The status is shown as UpgradePending.
   5. Click the Grafana operator from the Name column, and click 1 requires approval link.
      Note: As you selected the Manual Approval Strategy, you need to preview the approval plan and provide your approval before you install the Grafana operator.
   6. Click Preview Install Plan. The details about the manual installation plan are shown.
   7. Click Approve.
