Installing RQA application on a DOORS system

Users can install IBM Engineering Requirements Quality Assistant (RQA) on systems that are running IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS (DOORS) 9.6.1.6 or later versions.

Before you begin

Procedure

  1. Run the RQA installation file as an administrator, and follow the instructions in the wizard. Example of the RQA installation file is RQAD9Widget-3.1.0.exe.
  2. In the Welcome window, click Next to proceed with the installation.

  3. Click Next to proceed with the installation.
    Important:
    • Before RQA version 3.1.0, only the default location that is C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\DOORS\9.7\lib\dxl\addins\ was supported to install RQA. But from RQA version 3.1.0, this default location is no more supported.
    • From RQA version 3.1.0 onward, you can install RQA only at a custom location. You can choose to install RQA in the destination folder that is shown in the following screen capture. Also, you can choose to install RQA in a different folder. To do so, click Change, complete the steps to select a different folder, and then click Next.
Note: You can use spaces in the folder name.

  4. When you are prompted, enter the correct CLMNLU URL that you got from the administrator, and click Next.
Administrators find the CLMNLU URL from the Get Started page on the RQA administrator dashboard. For more information, see Administering RQA customer-managed for DOORS.

  5. Click Install to begin the installation.
  6. After the installation is complete, click Finish.
  7. Complete the following steps to copy .hlp and .idx files in the root directory that contains your custom DXL scripts.
Important: If the .hlp and .idx files are not available in the directory where RQA is installed or not named correctly, the Requirements Quality menu is not shown in DOORS modules. For more information, see Configuring DOORS to use DXL scripts in custom locations.
    1. Copy the default addins.hlp and addins.idx files from your $DOORSHOME\lib\dxl\addins directory to your custom directory that is the folder where you installed RQA.
    2. Rename them to match your directory name.
For example, if your custom directory is C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\DOORS\9.7, rename your copies of addins.hlp and addins.idx to 9.7.hlp and 9.7.idx. You can use spaces in your directory name.
