Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence overview

IBM® Envizi™ Supply Chain Intelligence enables you to engage with your suppliers at scale to streamline management and reporting of scope 3 emissions and puts your organization on a path to decarbonize your supply chain.

The Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence module captures and aggregates high-volume supplier and product- level transaction data for Scope 3 emissions and reporting, with a focus on Category 1 – Purchased Goods & Services and Category 2 – Capital goods. Transactional data, including spend, is directly integrated from your ERP system. The emissions calculation engine automates Scope 3 emissions calculation for individual order lines. In emissions calculations, priority is given to supplier-specific data, when available; otherwise, average data or spend-based emissions factors are used in calculations.

Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence helps you to,
  • Identify which suppliers are most material to your organization.
  • Engage suppliers at scale to collect emissions data.
  • Automate the capture of transactional data from ERP and financial accounting systems.
  • Gain insight into emissions hotspots in the supply chain to prioritize emissions reduction efforts.
  • Develop a line of sight view into data gaps to improve the quality and quantity of scope 3 data.
  • Gain a comprehensive and aggregated view of scope 3 categories 1 and 2 to support corporate and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Broaden your understanding of the sustainability targets and Environmental, social, and Governance (ESG) performance of your suppliers.

Decarbonizing your supply chain requires granular visibility into upstream emissions and reliable data so you can decide which abatement strategies to use to produce a tangible reduction in emissions. Typically, suppliers differ in the level of primary emission data that they can provide. Work with your suppliers to move from relying on secondary data in emissions calculations to providing supplier-specific data for high-priority products. The highest quality method is to provide product carbon footprint (PCF) data. Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence provides dashboards for you to track the engagement levels with PCF data requests and to monitor the quality of the PCF data that is returned. Expand your engagement with suppliers to gather sustainability performance data including corporate emissions, carbon reduction targets, and ESG data.

How it works

  • Provide order line data from your ERP systems, such as part numbers and purchases. A baseline of your spend on products, goods, and services and your emissions is created by using managed spend factors or your custom factors.
  • Gather supplier-specific emissions data. Send priority suppliers a survey to provide PCF data and track the pace of engagement and the data quality. For suppliers without PCF data, you send them a survey to provide their total corporate emissions and revenue to apportion emissions to the product based on spend.
  • If no PCF or corporate emissions data is available, Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence calculates emissions using secondary data by applying hybrid, average-data, or spend-based factors to purchases.
  • Use the dashboards in Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence to assess the emissions performance of the products, goods and services that you purchase across various dimensions, such as location, supplier, and country.
  • Synchronize summary emission data for scope 3 category 1 and 2 to Envizi ESG Suite base platform.
  • Run scope 3 reports in Envizi ESG Suite and incorporate the scope 3 emissions data in your sustainability disclosures and corporate social responsibility reports.
  • To gain a broader understanding of the sustainability performance of your suppliers and their sustainability goals, engage with suppliers to provide their science-based emissions reduction targets and send them a survey about their ESG performance.
