Message builder

The Message builder enables the creation of custom email notifications to share information and coordinate actions with your supply chain. The notification rules in Rule builder are needed to identify when to send email notifications.

The Message builder can send emails directly from Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence without logging in to another email system, which expedites resolutions and enables faster workflow management. A Message builder user can set rules to trigger notifications to intended recipients. Multiple use cases can benefit from the Message builder. For more information about the use cases, see Common use cases.

Message builder components

To send out email notifications, the following two components are required:

Message builder
Predefined messages are created in the Email message templates library of the Message builder. The message can contain specific data, which is called payloads, to provide more context. For example, if the message is about a product recall, you can include the payloads for the Lot Number, Product Number, and Locations.
Notification rule
The Rule builder is used to create the notification rule. The following elements are defined in the Rule builder:
Trigger criteria
A set of rules that defines when the notification is delivered.
Action
An action is used to define what action needs to be taken based on the trigger. It consists of the following items:
  • Type of action, which is an email notification.
  • The recipient of the message, which can be static or dynamic based on predefined criteria.
  • Message from the Email message templates library.

When the trigger criteria are met, a notification is sent to the intended recipient with the configured message. For more information about creating notifications, see Creating messages and Creating notification rules.

Common use cases

The Message builder can be used for multiple business reasons for swift workflow management and faster resolution. The following table shows the use cases:
Table 1. Use cases
Use case Description Outcome
Recall management If a certain lot is recalled by a supplier, then the stores who have the lot can be identified in the Envizi Supply Chain Intelligence and notified by using the Message builder. Supply chain risk mitigation
Inventory optimization

If inventory needs to be transferred from one store location to another because of shelf life risk or excess inventory, an email for the transfer request can be sent through the Message builder.

If the inventory is under the threshold, an email can be sent to a supplier to send the materials urgently. Or an email to request the transfer of inventory can be sent to a store location that has excess inventory.

Cost optimization
Shelf-life risk or expiry management If the goods that arrived at a store are at risk of expiry, an email can be sent to the supplier to raise a dispute, or the store manager can send an email to the store head to request a price markdown. Cost optimization
Certificate validation If a certificate that pertains to quality or some other compliance is missing for a particular product, the supplier is notified to upload or update the certificate. Compliance management
Risk notification and investigation If a risk exceeds a designated threshold, a user can send messages or notifications to supply chain partners to inform them of the risk, investigate further, and participate in the response to mitigate or reduce the risk. For example, you notice that 50% of your spending is with a supplier who has a low performance score, which introduces risk to your organization. In such cases, an email can be sent with the necessary action. Supply chain risk mitigation

Request for data

Supply chain emissions management

Notify a supplier that a request for information was sent and prompt the supplier to access a portal where they can submit the requested information, such as environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data, product carbon footprint (PCF), or supplier surveys.

Reminders to respond to information requests and provide or update missing or incomplete information. If a request for information was sent and is unanswered for a specified duration, messages can be sent to remind the supply chain partner that the request remains open.

Sustainability
Notifications to provide missing information If product ID, location, or any other field is missing, an email can be sent to the intended stakeholder to add the information. Compliance management
Work queue item notification If a new work queue item exists, the user can be notified by email. General notification
