Intensity targets
You can use intensity targets to track against intensity metrics that are configured by using the ratios feature. You can configure intensity targets against locations, groups, or the entire organization. Unlike bottom-up targets, intensity targets do not roll up, so targets at each level are independent of each other.
An example of an intensity target might be that 75% of energy comes from green or renewable sources. You can create a target that tracks against a percentage of renewable energy ratio. Alternatively, if your target is to divert 50% of waste from landfill, create an intensity target to track against a percentage waste diversion ratio.
The Intensity Targets grid
You can display a grid of intensity targets from the IBM® ESG Suite Manage menu.
In the Intensity Targets grid, you can manage and create targets, generate Excel templates for bulk updates, and drill down to capture target data manually. The actions that are displayed when you right-click a target, or click Actions, depend on your permissions.

- Description
- An optional description of the target.
- Target type
- Defaults to the standard intensity target.
- Set against
- Measured in
- Defaults to the unit of measure that you set for your ratio.
- Effective from
- The start date of the period that the target covers and the default start date that is used when you capture new target data into a target container.
- Effective to
- The end date of the period that the target covers and the default end date that is used when you capture new target data into a target container.
- Target status
- Indicates whether a target is active or inactive. Only active targets are displayed in the Rate Analysis dashboard. Any changes to the status of intensity targets are immediately reflected in dashboards and reports because the target data is accessed directly and live. The intensity target data in dashboards and reports the data is not based on the daily refresh of target data.
- Months covered
- The value is based on the target data within the target and indicates the maximum number of months between the earliest and latest month of target data.

This is referred to as "Named" in the KB, so I presume now updated to Set against in the UI?
