Troubleshooting multi-language support for Grids
If you open a CSV file directly in Microsoft Excel, some non-English characters might not be displayed correctly. Save the file by using ANSI encoding first.
Problem
In most grids, you can download data to a CSV file to view offline. However, if you open the CSV file directly in Microsoft Excel, depending on the locale setting of your machine, if the file contains non-English characters, the content might not be displayed correctly in Microsoft Excel.
Microsoft Excel is not able to open CSV files with UTF-8 encoding by default. UTF-8 is an industry standard encoding format to support language sets other than English.
Solution
You have two options to choose from.
To change the CSV file to ANSI encoding, complete these steps:
- Open the CSV file of the downloaded content in Notepad.
- Click .
- In the Encoding list, select ANSI.
- Click Save.
- Reopen the file in Microsoft Excel and verify that the characters are displayed correctly.
