Pathway to net zero page

Use the tool on the Pathway to net zero page to model the cost to reduce market-based emissions or to achieve net-zero electricity emissions.

Figure 1 displays an example of the Pathway to net zero page.

Filter the charts and the table and drill down to select locations, groups, or regions of interest. You can use the slider to specify a cost.

You can switch to a group or region view of your market-based emissions costs. Use the PowerBI visual controls to drill down and explore the next level of the hierarchy or to expand the entire hierarchy.

The Location Cost and Market-based Emissions table shows the best use of your budget. The most cost-effective strategy is to purchase certificates in regions or groups that have relatively higher market-based emission factors.
Remember: Apply certificates in accordance with the scope 2 quality guidance in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. This guidance states that all contractual instruments used in the market-based method for scope 2 accounting shall be sourced from the same market in which the reporting entity’s electricity-consuming operations are located and to which the instrument is applied.

The guidance doesn’t define market as new markets are continually being formed and evolving. The recommendation in Envizi ESG Suite is to apply certificates by using the most precise and granular method as practically possible. For example, apply them directly at the location level, or group-level if the grouping is linked to a ‘market’, or state level.
