Customizing fields

You can customize fields of programs, action plans and actions, such as renaming fields and defining custom pick lists.

About this task

Each organization has its own set of terms and categories that they used to classify their projects. You can customize many of the fields that are associated with actions to incorporate the terminology of your organization. For example, you might rename the Funding Source field to Rationale.

Note: When assigning a name to a custom field, avoid generic names that are use elsewhere on the user interface, such as location or action. Otherwise, the Extract for Programs report might not work properly.

Procedure

  1. From the main menu, click Admin > Custom Fields to open the Custom Fields grid.
  2. Customize the name of a field that is associated with a program, action plan, or an action.
    1. Click Create New and select the field to customize.
    2. Assign a custom name to the field.
    3. Optional: Assign a description.
  3. You can modify the list of options in a pick list of a customizable field.
    1. Select a field in the Custom Fields grid that is associated with a pick list.
      The field must be defined as a pick list.
    2. Click Actions and select Picklist Items.
    3. Select the custom field, click Actions, and select Edit List Item.
    4. Set the order number, which determines the order the item appears in the pick up list for this field.
    5. Click Save.
