Performance

Monitor the performance of your organization, group, location, or account by aggregating, ranking, and proportioning data over a selected period.

About this task

You can choose to track intensity on the dashboard.
Note: The intensity measures that are available in the By drop-down list represent KPIs that your system administrator has configured. They can be calculated in two ways based on whether the KPI is an accumulative measure or an instantaneous measure:
  • Accumulative measure: Intensity for each month is consumption / KPI.
  • Instantaneous measure: Intensity for each month is annualized by using consumption / KPI / number of days within the period * 365.
With instantaneous figures, periods can be compared like-for-like. If the intensity was not annualized, the intensity value would fluctuate depending on the period selected.
For example, for January:
  • Consumption = 31,000 kWh Floor area = 50 m2
  • Non-annualised intensity = 31,000/50 = 620 kWh/m2
  • Annualised intensity = 31,000/50/31 *365 = 7300 kWh/m2
For February:
  • Consumption = 28,000 kWh
  • Floor area = 50 m2
  • Non-annualised intensity = 28,000/50 = 560 kWh/m2
  • Annualised intensity = 28,000/50/28 *365 = 7300 kWh/m2
Both months have the same daily rate of consumption (1000 kWh/day) but might have different intensities if intensity is not annualised, because of the different number of days in each month.

Procedure

  1. Open the Performance dashboard:
    • For an organization, from the main menu, click Monitor, and select Performance.
    • For a location, select the group or location in the organization hierarchy. From the main menu, click Track, and select Performance.
  2. Select a comparison period for the summary chart.
  3. Select a unit of measure in the View as drop down list, for example, Energy (GJ). Only data types that are associated with the unit of measure are included on the dashboard.
  4. Select an intensity measure.
  5. Select the time range of the dashboard. Data is aggregated by month.
  6. Review the summary information, which includes the total activity data across all data types, the value for the period, and the variance.
  7. Review the Activity By Data Type chart.
This chart ranks your data aggregated by data types by using the unit of measure selected. Only data types relevant to the unit of measure that is selected in the View As list are included. For example, if Energy(GJ) is selected, then water data types are not included.

The top 10 data types are displayed. Click The Settings icon on a chart to change the sort order of a chart and the maximum number of data types to display.

    Note:

The data type names always include the primary measure (native reporting unit) of that data type, for example, Diesel Stationary L. Beside the data type name, the unit of measure that you have selected is displayed. This means that you are converting L (litres) to GJ for the purpose of being able to aggregate and rank data types of different primary measures by using a common measure.

  8. Review the Activity By Period chart.
This chart aggregates your activity data by month. If you chose to track an intensity by selecting a KPI metric, then the y-axis represents the intensity. For more information, see Setting up KPIs.
  9. Review the Activity By Location chart.
The chart ranks your data aggregated by locations using the selected unit of measure.
  10. Review the Activity By Group chart.
The chart shows the portion of your aggregated data by group. A maximum of 10 segments are shown in the pie chart. If there are more than 10 portions, then 9 are shown and the remaining are aggregated into Other.
    Note:

When you view this dashboard at the organization level then this chart proportions data based on the top level classification group.

When you view this dashboard at the organization level but you filter on a specific classification group, then this chart proportions data based on the classification sub-groups in the selected group in the hierarchy.

When you view this dashboard from a classification or portfolio-level, this chart proportions data based on the sub-groups in the selected group in the hierarchy.

  11. Review the Activity By Category chart. A maximum of 10 segments are shown. If there are more than 10 groups are found, then 9 are shown and the remaining data types are aggregated into an Other segment.
  12. Click Filters to narrow the data set of all charts on the report.
  13. Click Actions to save your view, schedule the dashboard, and to email the dashboard.
  14. Click The Down icon on a chart to view the chart data in a grid view and to export the view to a file.
