Setting consolidation tags

Use consolidation tags to ensure that meter data and account data are not double counted for emissions reporting.

Before you begin

To configure tags, in a Meter Summary page, click More > Tags.

About this task

Tags enable a meter to be tagged with a defined classification, for example, HVAC. Tags are also used to configure rules governing whether the meter's data is rolled into location, group or organizational level reporting, for example, a consolidation rule.

Typically, meter data is used to provide granular insights into utility consumption patterns while account data is used for enterprise reporting. In this case, to avoid double counting in reporting, you must set the consolidation tag on the meter to 0%. Therefore, when reporting at the location level or higher, meter data will not be included in aggregated values.

However, if you are using meter data as the primary source of data for reporting, the consolidation tag doesn't need to be set.

Procedure

  1. To set a consolidation tag, in the Meters grid, select one or more meters, and then click Actions > Tag Meter(s).
  2. Complete the fields in the Tag Meter(s) meter dialog:
    1. From the Tag Type list, select Consolidation tag type, which is the default value.
    2. From the Tag list, select CO2e and Base Measure, which is the default value.
    3. Set Report Percent to 0. The default value is 100.
    4. Click Tag Meter(s).
The consolidation tag is set to 0, so data from the meter will not be included in consolidated reporting at a location level or higher.

What to do next

You can verify consolidation tags have been set by using the preview panel for the meter. After you have set up all meters in the organization, you can also use the tag management feature to verify any meters that have not been tagged with a consolidation tag.
