Creating a service point

Service points are used to link meters to locations. You can create a single service point at a location, and create all meters for the location under the single service point.

About this task

Before creating a meter, check the location to see whether a service point exists that you can use. Otherwise, create a service point by following the steps in the procedure.

Procedure

  1. Create a service point either at the organization level or at the location level:
    • At the organization level, click Manage > Service Points.
    • In a location summary page, click More > Service Points.
  2. To open the Create New service point form, click Create New.
  3. Complete the fields in the Create New service point dialog:
    • For Location, which is mandatory, select the relevant location from the list.
      Note: The location field will not be displayed if the form is opened from a location specific service points grid.
    • Supplier is optional and can be left blank.
    • For Name, which is mandatory, enter a valid name, where the limit is 50 characters.
    • The rest of the fields are optional and can be left blank.
  4. Click Save to save the service point.

Results

You can now create meters under the service point at the location.
