Creating a meter

Create a meter.

Before you begin

Create a service point. For more information, see Creating a service point.

About this task

At the organization, group, and location levels, access the meter comparison dashboard from the Analyze menu.

Procedure

  1. Create a meter either at the organization level or at the location level:
    • At the organization level, click Manage > Meters.
    • In a location summary page, click More > Meters.
    Other meters grids exist at different levels of the organization hierarchy, but the organization meters grid and the location meters grid are the most used.
  2. To open the Create New meter form, click Create New.
  3. Complete the fields in the Create New meter dialog:
    • For Location, which is mandatory, select the relevant location from the list.
      Note: The location field will not be displayed if the form is opened from a location specific meters grid.
    • For Service Point, which is mandatory, select a service point created under the location that you selected.
    • For Name, enter a meter name by which it can be recognized, for example, Electricity main building, Tenant 1, and so on..
    • For Component, which is mandatory, select a value from list. For more information, see the child topic about meter components.
    • For Serial No, which is mandatory, select a value from list. For more information, see the child topic about the meter serial number.
    • For Quantiy, leave the value blank or enter 1.
    • Installed On is the installation date for the meter. The value is required for loading historical data for some connectors and is used in meter data quality reports.
    • Replaced On is the date on which the meter was replaced or closed. For more information, see the topic in this section about closing a meter.
    • For Replaced By, leave the value blank. For more information, see the topic in this section about closing a meter.
    • For Derived From, select a parent meter to show a hierarchy of meters at the location.
    • For Derived Percent, leave the value blank. The value defaults to 100%.
    • For Notes, enter optional notes about the meter.
  4. Click Save to save the meter.
